Touchstone® uses a scalable architecture. The architecture includes client systems that communicate with Touchstone application servers.

Touchstone is an n-tiered client-server system that you can deploy in a variety of configuration topologies. For example, you can co-locate functional layers or distribute the functional layers across dedicated infrastructure tiers. The Touchstone technology and software stack is portable. That is, you can deploy Touchstone on premises, in a public cloud, or in a hybrid cloud.

The following figure illustrates the basic system topology of the Touchstone solution deployed in a highly distributed manner.
