Touchstone® provides the following two operating modes in order to tailor the workflow to a variety of different user roles:
- Portfolio Mode: This mode facilitates the import, management, and analysis of large exposure sets and large portfolios. In Portfolio Mode, you can perform a variety of highly customizable analyses. Further, this mode also enables you to export exposure data, analysis results, and reports. Portfolio Mode is ideal for catastrophe risk analysts and modelers who work at the portfolio level.
- Underwriting Contract Mode: This mode streamlines the workflow for the analysis of individual contracts (that is, policies) with one or more locations. A user-centric and efficient design makes Underwriting Contract Mode ideal for underwriters and underwriting assistants who focus on one contract at a time and need to apply underwriting authority consistently.
Operational Modes in the Touchstone User Interface
The Touchstone user interface provides two distinct modes of operation. Users choose to work in either Portfolio Mode to analyze exposure views or Underwriting Contract Mode to analyze individual contracts. However, all exposure and results data is stored in the same underlying databases. A contract added in Underwriting Contract Mode is visible and accessible in Portfolio Mode.
Simulating Operational Modes Using the Touchstone APIs
When using the Touchstone APIs, you simply decide whether to import and analyze an entire exposure view or a single contract at a time. For example, you can emulate Underwriting Contract Mode by using the APIs to submit a detailed loss analysis on a single contract.
