CEDE 2024 (12.0) Database Reference
Introduction to CEDE

CEDE™ (Catastrophe Exposure Database Exchange) is AIR's open source exposure data format.

We created CEDE to facilitate accurate and transparent data exchange throughout the insurance value chain and to encourage model development from academic institutions and smaller organizations.

This document describes the tables and columns in a CEDE database (AIRExposure) as well as the tables and columns in related databases (AIRReference and AIRReinsurance).

Database Description
AIRExposure Stores exposure information such as contract and layer data.
AIRReference Stores reference data used by AIRExposure such as construction and occupancy class codes.
AIRReinsurance Stores information about reinsurance programs and contracts referenced in AIRExposure.

You can download a sample CEDE database from Verisk's website. If you have any questions about the CEDE format or sample database, contact Extreme Events Solutions.

Note: The Touchstone (Re) database schema is the proprietary information and intellectual property of AIR Worldwide and will remain as AIR Databases. In the Touchstone (Re) Documentation, we will refer to the database schema as AIR Databases (for example, AIR Reference, AIR Project, etc.).

Touchstone users must use their current processes to create Touchstone-compatible exposure databases.

For clarity, the document includes select tables from the AIRReference database. The tables define the codes used to populate several AIRExposure columns. For example, the database lists codes for:
