Configuring a Deterministic Loss Analysis |
For the Terrorism peril, you can run a Deterministic Loss Analysis for locations anywhere in the world. A Deterministic Loss Analysis evaluates a specific terrorist attack scenario, such as the detonation of a 6-ton TNT bomb hidden in a delivery truck parked at a specific location. Touchstone provides the capability to estimate property and casualty losses and workers' compensation claims due to a potential terrorist attack.
If you configure the analysis for a truck or van bomb at the base of a building with many stories and with many employees on the higher floors, be aware that the model does not differentiate between employees on the upper floors and the lower floors. You may want to adjust the distance between the bomb and the target according to the target's height. (There is no additional information for you to enter for FloorsOccupied to address this type of scenario.) |
To perform a Deterministic Loss Analysis:
1. Create a custom event set for the scenario in the Event Set Management module of the Administrative Console.
2. Configure the Detailed Loss AnalysisSettings, choosing the event set you created from the Event Set field menu.
3. Run the Detailed Loss Analysis.
For locations in the United States, the weapon could be either conventional or chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear (CBRN). For international locations, only conventional weapons are supported at this time. Conventional weapons include:
• Conventional bombs
• Portable (0.25-tons TNT)
• Car (0.75-tons TNT)
• Van (2.5-tons TNT)
• Delivery truck (6-tons TNT)
• Large truck (25-tons TNT)
• Airplane crash
• Large airplane
• Small airplane
For locations in the United States, the CBRN weapons are:
• Chemical
• Sarin
• VX
• Biological
• Anthrax
• Smallpox
• Radiological
• Cesium
• Cobalt
• Nuclear
• 1 kiloton
• 20 kilotons
• 50 kilotons
A Deterministic Loss Analysis is very sensitive to the exact location of the target. Provide the exact street address or latitude and longitude of the building in order to get accurate results. |
If you are analyzing a plane crash, provide the height of the target building in stories, not feet. The building height is not needed for other weapon types. |
