Importing a Reinsurance Program |
Reinsurance program files can have an *.RPF file extension or an *.RPX file extension:
• RPF files (binary format) are legacy programs created with Touchstone 1.0 or 1.5.
• Touchstone 2.0 and later create RPX files (XML-based) that you can open in a text editor, while continuing to support the legacy RPF files.
Reinsurance programs are created in a project and can only be viewed and applied within that project. However, you can export a reinsurance program and then import it into other projects. Your company may want to create programs and export them to a shared network location. You can only import the reinsurance program files from a shared location that has Read/Write access.
You cannot import a facultative certificate through the Reinsurance Program Manager. You must manually create a Surplus Share treaty in the Reinsurance Program Manager whether you import the Surplus Share treaty terms or create the treaty in Touchstone through Contract List > Contract > Layer/Location. When you create Surplus Share treaties in the Reinsurance Program Manager, you link them to the imported treaties via the Treaty ID. Surplus Share treaty IDs are not case-sensitive. For example, assume that you import four exposure sets, each of which contains a separate Surplus Share treaty, where the treaty IDs are: "SS", "Ss", "sS", and "ss". You then create an exposure view that includes all four exposure sets. The Reinsurance Program Manager does not consider the treaty IDs in those four files to be unique. As a result, when you create a Surplus Share program in the Reinsurance Program Manager, select that exposure view as the target exposure, and then try to add a Surplus Share treaty for each Surplus Share treaty included in the exposure data, you will see that the only valid ID in the Treaty ID field is "SS". To apply different limit terms to each of the surplus share treaties, make sure that the treaty IDs are unique before you import the exposures. This is especially important to keep in mind if you have a large portfolio used across multiple exposure views. Touchstone displays a maximum of 9318 Surplus Share treaty IDs in the Treaty ID list. |
The Import Program function imports the program name, the date the program was created, treaty information, and Line of Business and Area filters. It does not validate content.
AIR recommends that you do not use HPC for import; instead, use a shared folder.
To import a reinsurance program:
1. Open a project.
2. In the project's navigation pane, click Reinsurance.
The Reinsurance Programs pane lists the available programs.
3. Click Import Program 
.
The Open dialog box appears.
4. Navigate to the shared folder that contains the reinsurance program file.
Touchstone defaults to "Reinsurance Program Files (*.rpx)" in the file type list. To import a Legacy Program Files (*.rpf), select that file type in the list.
5. Select the RPX or RPF file that you want to import.
6. Click Open.
If there is already a reinsurance program with the same name in the project, Import Program prompts you to rename it. The imported reinsurance program appears in the list of reinsurance programs with information about the import path.
