Touchstone Re AIR Databases

Enhancements in the database schema.

We made the following schema changes to accommodate new features, model updates, and enhancements:

International demand surge

The new international demand surge model calculates inflation factors by country-specific and accounts for the whole year instead of for each event individually for the following selected European models:

  • Verisk Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe

  • Verisk Severe Thunderstorm Model for Europe

  • Verisk Earthquake Model for the Pan-European Region

  • Verisk Inland Flood Model for Central Europe

  • Verisk Inland Flood Model for Great Britain

Calculation: New Demand Surge = Construction Cost Inflation + Economic Demand Surge

We updated the database schema for a new demand surge methodology, which is country-specific and accounts for the whole year instead of for each event individually. Also, we made schema changes to capture the calculated core economic demand surge factor and the cost construction inflation percentage and related information in a loss results table. We added the following new tables:

  • AIRUserSetting.tDemandSurgeConstructionCostInflation: Stores the user-specified construction cost inflation factor, which is added to the economic demand surge factor.

  • AIRUserSetting.tDemandSurgeLatestModelXref: Stores model information that the loss engine uses at the time of the demand surge calculation.

We modified the following existing table:

  • AIRReference.tDemandSurgeRegion: To identify which models support demand surge in Touchstone Re, we added a HasLatestModel Boolean flag.

Export Aggregate IED to DB

We enhanced the output tables for our Export Aggregate Industry Exposure Database (IED) to DB feature to enable joining its tables with other Touchstone Re tables. Now when you export aggregate IED for each country (for example Philippines or Middle East) in Touchstone Re, the exported data includes the local currency of the exported country, area, CRESTA, subarea, peril set code, and lines of business (LOB). This lets you extend the exported IED for further reporting and downstream analytics.

  • We added four new columns, GeographySID, LOBCode, PerilSetCode, and CurrencyCode, in the aggregate IED.

Verisk Earthquake Model for the Middle East

We introduced the Verisk Earthquake Model to support nine countries for the Middle East region. This update includes support for: custom lines of business; import and export of aggregate exposure data andUNICEDE/2 file; running of aggregate loss analyses via exposure set or company loss set; performing of zonal and multi-year analyses; exceedance probability (EP) adjustments; conversion of EP to universal loss files (ULFs); viewing of exposures and loss maps; and export of loss reports.

  • We updated the area and CRESTA codes for the following nine countries: Bahrain, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to provide more accurate information when exporting aggregate industry exposures in Touchstone Re.

  • We extended the existing custom LOB support for the nine countries and migrated the legacy custom exposures to the new geographies.

  • We remapped several countries with the updated geographies. For geography-based information used by Touchstone Re, refer to the tGeography table.
