Search active Wildfire events
View all active Wildfire events and get related metrics in Verisk Catalog Viewer.
You can estimate losses by quantifying the number of exposures that fall within the burn perimeter of the event.
The NIFC Current Fires Wildfire peril tab displays all the active Wildfire events in the Western U.S. region listed in the data panel. You can also view the locations of these Wildfire events through the Wildfire markers appearing on the map.
The interface also displays an aggregate dynamic dashboard summarizing the metrics generated by all the Wildfire events in the Western U.S. region. The dashboard gets updated with every search based on the selection criteria. Click on the arrows to expand or close the dashboard.
Procedure
- Click on the add symbol next to WILDFIRE

Click on the NIFC Current Fires.
Query NIFC Current Fires search window opens, listing every Wildfire that is currently active in the Western U.S. region. The map then zooms in on this region. On the map, the locations of each event are represented with Wildfire markers.The data panel also displays the date of the most recent server update. The alert message will appear if there are no Wildfire events occurring in real-time while the search is being done..

Alternatively, select New Only to get the list of newly
discovered Wildfires that have started in the past 24 hours.
Only New events will be displayed on the data panel for your selection.
The map is updated with the locations of the Wildfire events based on the changed search parameters. The new filter selection also updates the aggregated dashboard.

From the drop-down list, select one of the below options:
- Select TRV at-risk (High-Low) to list events based on their decreasing Total Replacement Values.
- Select TRV at-risk (Low-High) to list events based on their increasing Total Replacement Values.
The default for the display of events in the data grid is TRV at-risk (High-Low). - Select the event of your choice from the list of events in the data panel by clicking its wildfire marker icon to view the event summary and the burn perimeter.

Alternatively, you can type the event name in the search text box. It auto
populates with event name suggestions.
You can see the selected Wildfire event on the map and on the data panel. In the event of internal server problems, you will receive an error notification indicating the unavailability of data in case of internal server issues.
- In case you want to view Wildfire events of any specific U.S. State, select the U.S. State of your interest from the drop-down list.
- Click Reset all filters to clear all the applied filters.
