Search for past Wildfire events

View Wildfire burn perimeter from the past one year and get related metrics in Verisk Catalog Viewer.

You can estimate losses by quantifying the number of exposures that fall within the burn perimeter of the event.

The NIFC Past Fires Wildfire peril tab displays all the older Wildfire events for the current year in the Western U.S. region listed in the data panel. You can also view the locations of these Wildfire events by selecting the Wildfire markers appearing on the map.

Steps to search for NIFC Past Fires events

Procedure

  1. Click on the add symbol next to WILDFIRE
  2. Click on the NIFC Past Fires.

    Query NIFC Past Fires search window opens.

  3. In the event search text box, enter the completeEvent Name.
  4. Alternatively, you can select from the auto-populated event name suggestions from a drop-down menu.
  5. Enter the start and end reporting dates of the wildfire event of your choice. You can also choose the dates from the calendar grid.
    Although the calendar grid contains a list of years, the search is currently limited to the present year. The application constantly validates and notifies you of incorrect dates as you enter them. For example, if you do not provide an end date or if it is prior to the event start date, the system will generate an error message.
  6. Select the U.S. State of your interest from the drop-down menu.
  7. Click on Search Events.
    The application returns key metrics for all the Wildfire perils based on the search criteria.
  8. Click Reset to clear all the applied filters.
    It will be reset to defaults.

Results

The Wildfire events of your choice appears on the Results grid.

Next Steps

Click Reset to clear all the applied filters. The data panel will be reset to defaults.

Click on Close to get back to the main search window.
