What's New in Touchstone 7.0 Validation Reference

The Touchstone Exposure Data Validation Reference includes support for updated models and enhancements.

The Country Data Lookup Tool, which is available on AIR’s Client Portal, is a macro-enabled Microsoft Excel workbook that provides exposure-related data on a per-country basis, including ISO country codes, CRESTAs, Areas, Subarea support, Subareas (counties) for the United States, Postal code support, Currency codes, Construction and occupancy class regions, AIRconstruction codes, and AIRoccupancy codes.

Associated construction/occupancy class codes Help topics have been updated with supported codes.

Refer to the model documentation on AIR's Client Portal for detailed information about modeled perils, construction classes, and occupancy classes, for each model.

Documentation for some AIR models includes a document that serves as a guide to the secondary risk characteristics (SRCs) used in the model. SRCs are features of a building and its environment that have a significant impact on the building’s vulnerability to damage during an event. The SRCs are important contributing factors to losses sustained by residential, commercial, and industrial properties. You can search the Client Portal for SRCs documents by typing “secondary risk characteristics” in the Search field.

New and Updated Models

The following models are new to, or have been updated in, Touchstone 7.0. New and/or updated loss files are available for each of these models.

The Scope of Model and Software Updates, available on the Client Portal, provides high-level information about model updates and updates to AIR's Industry Exposure Database.

Updated models included changed event IDs for:

AIR Earthquake Model for New Zealand (stochastic)

AIR Inland Flood Model for Central Europe (stochastic)

AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe (historical, to accommodate storm surge events added with the inclusion of the storm surge peril for Great Britain)

AIR Hurricane Model for the United States (stochastic)

AIR U.S. Hurricane Model for Offshore Assets (stochastic, updates related to the AIR Industry Exposure Database for the Gulf of Mexico, as well as updates to market prices of oil and gas)

The AIR Earthquake Model for New Zealand includes code 367 (Damageable Land), which is valid only for this model.

The AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe incorporates the AIR Coastal Flood Model for Great Britain, for better consistency with other AIR wind models. The integrated model includes the storm surge events for the United Kingdom.

The AIR Typhoon Model for Mainland China, which models the risk from both wind and precipitation flood, has been updated.

This release supports multiple model versions of AIR's released models. As a result, if a model is updated next year, you can run loss analyses on both this year's model and next year's model on the same Touchstone platform. This enables you to investigate the impact of changes to your exposure data without having to go back and forth between two versions of the model. Example Loss analyses that you run on previous model versions use the most recently released Touchstone financial engine and geocoder. You can use APIs to submit losses using previous model versions, and you can import updated exposure data to use with previous model versions. Touchstone treats losses from previous model versions in the same way that it treats upgraded losses for updated models in Touchstone 6.0 and later—therefore, Loss Grouping, Marginal Impact, and CATXOL analyses are disabled for such analyses, and export of previous loss results to CLF/CLA is not supported. However, you can use previous model losses in a Loss Comparative Analysis.

       Updated Touchstone Hazard profiles include:

Earthquake profile: US Landslide Zone and US Alquist-Priolo Fault Zone

Flood profile: 2019 FEMA Flood Zone

This release provides greatly enhanced local intensity calculations for the AIR Inland Flood Model for Central Europe, the AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe, and the AIR Earthquake Model for New Zealand.

This release supports computation of local event intensities for previous model versions, wherever applicable.
