Major update that includes additional perils, new data, additional events, and new modeling processes.

General model updates

New perils added. In addition to ground shaking, the updated model explicitly models the following perils:

  • Landslide
  • Liquefaction
  • Tsunami (Touchstone only)
Hazard
  • 15+ years of additional historical data
  • Updated fault database
  • Updated geodetic data
  • Added USGS SLAB2 geometries for subduction zones
  • Renewed the time-dependent model for subduction zone earthquakes
  • Incorporated the latest local, regional, and global ground motion prediction equations
  • Included path corrections for short- and long-period seismicity
  • Included the site-period based amplification model for Mexico City (soft soil environment)
  • Expanded high-resolution soil data coverage
Vulnerability
  • Integrated the latest advancements in recent earthquake models for all subperils
  • Introduced intensity-based methodology for damage estimation
  • Added support for landslide, liquefaction, and (in Touchstone) tsunami subperils
  • Incorporated a new, peer-reviewed, municipality-based building codes study
  • Enhanced damage functions, including unknown damage functions for buildings with unknown attributes
