Performing an Augmentation enhancement
This topic describes how to augment data when running a Data Quality analysis.
Procedure
To run a Data Quality analysis with the Augment diagnostic:
- Create a new Data Quality Analysis.
- [Optional] In the New Data Quality Analysis pane, select additional targets.
-
Under Augment, select Enhance with
Property-Specific Data and/or User-Specified Values
and then configure the Augmentation rules.
-
To include summary information about the consistency of your data with
our PSD (property-specific database), leave the default option,
Include Data Consistency Summary. To
include details about data consistency for each location, select
Include Data Consistency Details.
If you select any rules that prevent augmentation, the system will not check your data for consistency; however, if you select the Overwrite option, the system may still check for consistency.
If you do not select either Primary Risk Characteristics or Secondary Risk Characteristics in the Rule Set Editor, the system will not check your data for consistency.
When you augment using both our PSD and user-specified values, the system does not update location data with user-specified data if the location data has been augmented using our PSD.
The system checks unaugmented location data for consistency with the database. After checking data for consistency, unaugmented location data is subject to the updates indicated by the Location Update rules.
See ""Guidelines for Data Consistency" for information about how Augment defines consistency of client data with data in our PSD.
-
To enhance your exposure data with user-specified values, in the
Enhance with Property-Specific Data and/or
User-Specified Values pane, select
User-specified Values, click
Options, and then configure the location
update rules. Follow the same steps described in steps 3b through
3f.
Note:
If you decide to use both sets of rules, Augment evaluates the data first using values in our PSD, and then applies user-specified values to applicable fields (when it does not find values in our PSD).
-
To exclude specific locations from being augmented, select a location
exclusion file. Browse to the location of a CSV file that contains, on
a new line for each of the excluded locations, the following
information: Business Unit Name, Book Name, Contract ID, and Location
ID. The values must be separated by a comma, as in the following
example:
BizUnit1,Book1,Pol1,Loc01
BizUnit1,Book1,Pol1,Loc02
BizUnit2,Book4,Pol2,Loc11
BizUnit4,Book8,Pol15,Loc16
-
Select one of the following options:
-
To copy your exposure data to a new exposure view and update the data with augmented values immediately after completion of the analysis, select Create New and enter a name for the new view in the Exposure View Name field.
-
To update your existing exposure data with augmented values immediately after completion of the analysis, select Overwrite.
-
-
By default, the analysis target is the exposure view you were working
with when you selected Data Quality Analysis. To narrow the scope of
the exposure data being analyzed, click Analysis
Filters.
For example, you can analyze only exposures with a total replacement value above or below a specific value.
- Click Analysis Management to configure analysis-specific functions.
-
[Optional]. In the Analysis Prefix field, enter
a prefix to distinguish between analysis results when you run an
analysis with multiple targets.
The field appears only when you have selected multiple targets.
-
In the Analysis Name field, if the analysis
target is a single exposure view or contract, leave the default, which
is the exposure view name or the contract ID and the type of analysis,
or enter a unique alphanumeric identifier. If the analysis target
includes multiple exposure views or contracts, you cannot change the
default name, which is "Auto name ('n' items)".
Tip:
Entering some combination of the exposure view name along with the analysis type enables you to quickly find result sets in the Activity Monitor.
-
Click Run.
Touchstone adds the project to the Activity Monitor queue for processing when the required system resources are available.
-
View the analysis results.
Note:
Each time you augment a portfolio, Data Quality automatically runs two exposure overview diagnostics: one pre-augmentation exposure overview and one post-augmentation overview. You can quickly compare the results of the two diagnostics to understand how the quality of your exposure data improved as a result of the augmentation.
