Export exposure data to *.csv files

Export exposure data to *.csv files so that you can exchange the data with insurers and reinsurers.

You can export exposure data, such as contract, location, and reinsurance data to comma-separated values (*.csv) files. Contract data includes policies, layers, and sublimits, and, for Japanese property exposures, step functions.

When you export exposure data, Touchstone extracts the data from the CEDE exposure database. For more information, see the CEDE Exposure Data Schema on the Client Portal: https://www.air-worldwide.com/data-standards/cede-schema-documentation/

Touchstone creates a separate *.csv file for each type of exposure data that you select. For example, if you select Contract Data and Location Data, Touchstone creates two *.csv files in the destination folder. You can review the name of an exported file to understand the type of data the file contains. For example, ExportCSV_ContractData.csv contains contract information. ExportCSV_LocationData.csv contains location information.

You can view exposure data exported to a *.csv file in an Excel spreadsheet. Touchstone orders the data in columns so that you do not need to manually order the data. If you save an exported file in Excel, Excel changes the file format to tab-delimited.

Touchstone 2022 supports a new Trigger Type 4, Building, then Contents. It enables users to specify contents amount steps in addition to the building amounts steps to more accurately reflect real-world policy conditions. The export file will include the terms.

Touchstone supports primary and facultative contracts.

Type of data Primary property Facultative property Primary workers' compensation Facultative workers' compensation
Contract X X X X
Location X X X X
Reinsurance X Not applicable X Not Applicable
Step Function X Not applicable X Not Applicable
Type of data Primary property Facultative property
Contract X X
Location X X
Reinsurance X Not applicable

If you import exposure data that includes a layer with attachment point amounts (limits by coverage A-D), Touchstone converts the attachment point amounts to sublimit attachments (A-D). If you subsequently export the same exposure data, the exported file contains sublimit attachment columns (SublimitAttachA, SublimitAttachB, SublimitAttachC, and SublimitAttachD), which correspond to the attachment point amounts from the original exposure data (AttachmentPtA, AttachmentPtB, AttachmentPtC, and AttachmentPtD).

Procedure

  1. Choose one of the following methods:
    • On the global menu bar, click Export > Exposure > Exposure to CSV.
    • Right-click the exposure view in the All Exposure Views list, and then click Export to CSV.
  2. On the Source Exposure tab, select the exposure view to export.
  3. In the Export Exposure Information area, select the type of data to export.
Location data can include workers' compensation data such as injury type. Contract data can include step function data, which applies only to property exposures (not to Workers' Compensation exposures).
  4. In the Number of Cores fields, specify the minimum and maximum number of cores to use for the export job.
  5. On the Options tab, select the date format, and then, optionally, select the Remember Date Setting check box.
Selecting the date format enables you to keep the date formats of imported and exported *.csv data consistent.
  6. Specify the destination for the exported data.
  7. [Optional] Clear the Close on Export check box to keep ExportExpress open after you submit the export job.
  8. Click Export.
