Mapping LOB Values

There are several places in Touchstone where you can map unrecognized user line of business (LOB) values to valid Touchstone LOB values:

During export of a Reinsurance Submission Package:

When you map a user LOB value to an industry LOB value in Step 1 of 4: Loss Options

When you map a user LOB value to a UNICEDE® LOB value in Step 2 of 4: Exposure Options (where you selected UNICEDE® 2)

During export of exposure data to UNICEDE 2 files

During export of loss results to company loss files (CLFs)

Touchstone maps a user LOB value to an Industry/UNICEDE LOB value only if the Industry/UNICEDE LOB value is valid for the selected country. For example, you cannot map a user LOB value for Japan to "Mobile Home"—if you try to copy and paste "Mobile Home" into a row where Japan is the country, nothing will change.

There are several methods for mapping LOB values. Click any of the following links for information about different ways to map LOB values after you navigate to an LOB Mapping tab.

Mapping a single unrecognized user LOB value to an Industry or UNICEDE LOB value

Copying and pasting an LOB value

Copying and pasting a single LOB value into multiple LOB cells

Copying and pasting LOB values from a spreadsheet into Touchstone

Mapping a Single Unrecognized User LOB value to an Industry or UNICEDE LOB Value

To map an unrecognized user LOB value:

1.     Navigate to the LOB Mapping tab.

2.     Click in an Industry LOB or UNICEDE LOB cell.

3.     Click the arrow to display the list of available LOBs. The list includes only those LOB values that are valid for the selected country.

4.     Select an LOB value.

Copying and Pasting an LOB Value

To copy and paste an LOB value:

1.     Navigate to the LOB Mapping tab.

2.     Click in an Industry LOB or UNICEDE LOB cell that contains an LOB value.

3.     Double-click the LOB value that you want to copy. For example, double-click “Commercial”. Touchstone highlights the value. When there are two parts to the value, such as in "Residential Building", make sure that you highlight the entire value.

4.     Right-click the highlighted LOB value and then select Copy from the shortcut menu, or hold down Ctrl and press C.

5.     Click in the LOB cell where you want to paste the LOB value. The cell becomes editable.

6.     Right-click in the cell and then select Paste from the shortcut menu, or hold down Ctrl and press V. If there are multiple matches, Touchstone displays a list of matching values. Select the LOB value that you want to use. For example, if you paste “Commercial” in a cell where the country is Denmark, you can then select “2 – Commercial” or “17 – Commercial & Industrial”.

7.     Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each unrecognized value that you want to map to the copied LOB value.

Copying and Pasting a Single LOB Value into Multiple LOB Cells

To copy and paste a single LOB value into multiple LOB cells:

1.     Navigate to the LOB Mapping tab.

2.     Click in an Industry LOB or UNICEDE LOB cell that contains an LOB value.

3.     Double-click the LOB value that you want to copy, for example, double-click “Commercial”.

If you right-click on an existing value in a cell, Touchstone highlights the existing value so that you can paste over it. If there are multiple matches, Touchstone displays a list of matching values. Select the LOB value that you want to use. For example, if you paste “Commercial” in a cell where the country is Denmark, you can then select “2 – Commercial” or “17 – Commercial & Industrial”.

7.     Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each target cell.

8.     To paste the value into contiguous cells, copy an LOB value, highlight the first target row, and then move the pointer to the Industry LOB or UNICEDE LOB cell in that row. Drag the pointer down the LOB column to highlight the contiguous target cells in the column, right-click in the highlighted area, and then paste the copied LOB value into the target cells. You can also use standard Microsoft Windows multi-select (Shift + Click) to select contiguous cells: copy an LOB value, click in the first target cell in the LOB column, hold down Shift and then click in the last target cell. Touchstone highlights the target cells. Right-click in the highlighted area and then click Paste.

Copying and Pasting LOB Values from a Spreadsheet into Touchstone

This method may be useful if you have multiple unrecognized values. You can copy the values from the LOB Mapping grid to a spreadsheet, edit the LOB values, and then paste the LOB values back into the Industry LOB or UNICEDE LOB column.

To copy and paste LOB values from a spreadsheet into Touchstone:

1.     Navigate to the LOB Mapping tab.

2.     Right-click anywhere in the grid and then select Select All from the shortcut menu, or hold down Ctrl and press A. All the rows are highlighted in green.

3.     Right-click in the highlighted area and then select Copy, or hold down Ctrl and press C.

4.     Open a spreadsheet and paste the copied data into a blank worksheet—the copied data includes the column headings. Then enter LOB values in the Industry LOB or UNICEDE LOB column. The values must be valid for the associated country. In the spreadsheet, copy only the values that are in the Industry/UNICEDE LOB column.

5.     In Touchstone, on the LOB Mapping tab, select the target Industry LOB or UNICEDE LOB cells and then paste the values from the spreadsheet into those cells. If you copy the same number of values into the same number of rows, Touchstone copies the values in sequence. For example, if you copy seven LOB values into seven cells, Touchstone copies the first value into the first cell, the second value into the second cell, etc. However, Touchstone does not copy LOB values that are not valid for a particular country. You can also just copy one or more values from a spreadsheet and then paste them into multiple cells in Touchstone. For example, you could enter "Commercial" in the spreadsheet and copy it. Then, on the LOB Mapping tab, select the target cells and paste "Commercial" into all the selected cells.
