Import

Touchstone enables you to import contract and exposure data, map layers, projects, and reinsurance packages from external sources into Touchstone databases.

The exposure data may be in the following formats:

Almost any custom, client-specific data format saved as a text or comma-separated values (CSV) file

       RMS-EDM exposure databases

Standardized industry exposure data formats (ACORD Binding Authority) (except for workers' compensation fields)

There is a maximum file size of two gigabytes (GB) when you import CSV files.

Touchstone supports real and personal property exposure data and workers' compensation exposure data. However, you must license Workers' Compensation to include the workers' compensation exposure data in a loss analysis.

Your business may manage exposures in regions and against perils that AIR does not model. Consequently, Touchstone enables you to import, edit, and save exposure data for non-modeled regions with CRESTA support, non-modeled regions without CRESTA data, and non-modeled perils. Touchstone preserves all user-provided geographic and peril information, including user-provided geocodes. For a list of country codes supported by Touchstone, refer to Touchstone Database Reference on AIR's Developer Zone.

Touchstone automatically geocodes locations that have not been geocoded, that is, locations without latitude and longitude values. See Using Geocoding in Touchstone on AIR's Client Portal.

Construction and Occupancy Code Validation

Location-level exposure data includes construction and occupancy codes. The loss analysis engine uses construction and occupancy code pairs to determine the damage functions to apply for each location. Therefore, it is important for the engine to use the correct pair of codes.

Touchstone does not validate construction/occupancy pairs during import. Even if a pair is invalid, Touchstone passes the codes to the Location database.

Touchstone validates only individual construction and occupancy codes. If an individual code is not a valid AIR code, then Touchstone does not import the location associated with the invalid code. Further, Touchstone determines whether an individual construction or occupancy codes is valid for the country associated with the code. If the code and country combination is invalid, Touchstone imports the location associated with the invalid combination and enters a warning in the import log.

You can find information about locations that were not imported in the rejection file for each import job. The following example shows a sample log entry for three invalid codes, specified in the Business Errors section of the log:

ConstrA | Business Validation Warning: [Contract Id: US Loc ID: PharmacyX] Combination Construction Building '105' Country 'United States' is invalid

ConstrB | Business Validation Warning: [Contract Id: US Loc ID: PharmacyX] Combination Construction Other '105' Country 'United States' is invalid

Occupancy | Business Validation Warning: [Contract Id: US Loc ID: PharmacyX] Combination Occupancy Code '307' Country 'United States' is invalid
