Importing a Project

Touchstone enables you to import a project that another Touchstone user previously exported and shared with you. The project file names, files, and folder structure must be unmodified (file names and content) and must be available.

If you are importing a project from Touchstone 6.0, consider the following requirements and notes:

There must be a valid project (*.prj) file.

The CEDE exposure databases, reinsurance program files (*.rpx), loss templates, and currency tables must be in the specified location.

Touchstone must have sufficient permissions to access the file location and the SQL server.

If Touchstone cannot upgrade the databases, it cancels the entire Import job. However, any databases that were successfully attached and upgraded before the job failed will be available.

Since Touchstone performs several database functions automatically, the following SQL Server permissions must be associated with the Touchstone instance:

The Touchstone Service Account must have Administrator privileges on the database machine.

The Touchstone Service Account must have a valid SQL login.

The SQL Server Service Account must have administrator privileges on the folder where Touchstone stores MDF files by default.

To import a project:

1.     Ensure that the project to import is in a directory that is accessible to Touchstone.

2.     On the Global menu bar, click Import > Project.

3.     In the Project File Location field, browse to the project definition file (.prj) for the project that you want to import, select it, and then click Open.

Touchstone checks to see whether the project directory includes all required files. This may include: CEDE 2.0 database files, loss templates, currency tables, and reinsurance programs. Touchstone provides a preview of the exposure view data to be imported.

4.     In the Project Name field, leave the default or type a unique name for the project to import.

When you import a project from Touchstone 6.0, Import Project warns you that the old databases are not compatible with the current version and will be upgraded.

5.     Optionally, deselect Create Exposure Summaries on Import if you do not want Touchstone to generate exposure summaries for each exposure view..

6.     Optionally, in the Scheduling field, select Schedule on and then specify the date and time to execute the export job.

7.     Optionally, deselect Close on Import to keep the Import Project window open after you submit the import job.

8.     Click Import.
