Storage Tank Construction

AIR provides the following codes for storage tank construction:

While Coverage C (content) is not supported for most of the 200-series construction class codes, it is, supported for Inland Transit (construction code 259) and for some other construction codes, such as tanks and pipelines. Construction Code	Category	Description
221	Underground Liquid Tanks	Underground tanks that are designed to hold liquids. For the AIR Earthquake Model for the United States, AIR recommends using the new 4-digit construction code 2211.
222	Underground Solid Tanks	Underground storage tanks that are designed to hold solid material. For the AIR Earthquake Model for the United States, AIR recommends using the new 4-digit construction code 2221.
223	On Ground Liquid Tanks	Above ground storage tanks located on the ground surface that are designed to hold liquids. For the U.S. Earthquake Model, AIR recommends using the new 4-digit construction code 2231.
224	On Ground Solid Tanks	Above ground storage tanks located on the ground surface that are designed to hold solid material. For the U.S. Earthquake Model, AIR recommends using the new 4-digit construction code 2241.
225	Elevated Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks located above the ground surface that are designed to hold liquids. For the U.S. Earthquake Model, AIR recommends using the new 4-digit construction code 2251.
226	Elevated Solid Tanks	Storage tanks located above the ground surface that are designed to hold solid material. For the U.S. Earthquake Model, AIR recommends using the new 4-digit construction code 2261.
2210	Unknown Tanks	Storage tanks with an unknown material, unknown location, and unknown contents, or other unknowns that cannot be mapped to any of the other storage tank construction class codes Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2211	Underground Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks made of steel or concrete for holding liquids and located under the ground Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2221	Underground Solid Tanks	Storage tanks made of steel or concrete for holding solid material and located under the ground Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2231	On Ground Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks located on the ground surface for holding liquids with an unknown material of construction Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2232	On Ground Steel Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks made of steel for holding liquids and located on the ground surface Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2233	On Ground Concrete Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks made of concrete for holding liquids and located on the ground surface Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2241	On Ground Solid Tanks	Storage tanks located on the ground surface for holding solid material with an unknown material of construction Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2242	On Ground Steel Solid Tanks	Storage tanks made of steel for holding solid material and located on the ground surface Valid only for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2243	On Ground Concrete Solid Tanks	Storage tanks made of concrete for holding solid material and located on the ground surface Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2251	Elevated Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks located above the ground surface for holding liquids with an unknown material of construction Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2252	Elevated Steel Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks made of steel for holding liquids and located above the ground surface Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2253	Elevated Concrete Liquid Tanks	Storage tanks made of concrete for holding liquids and located above the ground surface Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2261	Elevated Solid Tanks	Storage tanks located above the ground surface for holding solid material with an unknown material of construction Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
2262	Elevated Steel Solid Tanks	Storage tanks made of steel for holding solid material and located above the ground surface Valid for South America and Southeast Asia, and the United States.
