Choosing the analysis type in geospatial analysis

Choosing the analysis type is the first step in configuring a geospatial analysis.

In the New Geospatial Analysis pane, after selecting the analysis target or targets, click Step 1 - Choose Analysis Type. A pane opens where you select:

Type Options
Exposure type Property, Workers' Compensation, or both Property and Workers' Compensation.
Analysis type

Select one of four types of accumulation or select intersections with GIS hazard layers. The exposure type that you choose determines your choices in this step and in subsequent steps.

  • The Property exposure type allows you to accumulate by zonal accumulations , ring accumulations , event accumulations, and custom boundaries. While configuring the accumulations, you can integrate Touchstone or custom hazard layers and one set of location-level or location summary-level loss results; to do this, you configure intersections.

  • The Hazards and Intersections type allows you to aggregate total replacement value (TRV) based on GIS hazard layers or with loss results. This option does not send the locations to the financial engine for application of financial terms and limits (as it does for the accumulation types of exposures).

  • The Workers' Compensation type allows you to accumulate only by rings. You cannot integrate hazard layers or loss results when you configure the accumulations.

  • When you select both Property and Workers' Compensation, the only available analysis type is Ring Accumulation.
