Running Geospatial Analyses with Map Layers

You may want to accumulate property exposure data by ‘buckets’ within an event. For example, you may want to run a Geospatial Analysis that accumulates values based on one or more custom map layers. Your property exposure data must intersect with the map layers that you select for the analysis if you want results for those accumulations. Otherwise, the analysis will be completed with exceptions because there is no intersecting data.

If you select "Workers' Compensation" as the exposure type, you can only configure a Rings analysis and enable dynamic results. As a result, certain functions—Accumulate Values by zones, custom boundaries, event footprints, and hazard boundaries; Spatial Outputs; and Analysis Options (including Reinsurance)—will not be available.

To run a Geospatial Analysis with map layers:

1.     Open a project. Highlight the exposure view name on which you want to run the analysis.

2.     In the navigation pane, select Geospatial. The New Geospatial Analysis pane opens.

3.     If not already selected, in the Analyze Exposure Type area, select Property Exposure.

4.     In the Values to Analyze area, select the attributes and/or exposed limits that you want to include.

5.     In the Accumulate Values By area, select the Custom Event Footprints option. The Custom Event Footprints pane displays information about each imported custom map layer available to you, such as "Songda Windspeed Bands". Select the custom map layer. Then, optionally, edit the event data, such as the label for a hurricane wind speed range, the damage ratio, or the fill color.

6.     In the Results Display and Storage area, select Enable Dynamic Results. Selecting this option enables you to create chart and table widgets so that you can work interactively with the results.

7.     Select Analysis Management and then enter or select the target result database.

8.     Optionally, modify the analysis name.

9.     Click Run. Then check the Activity Monitor for the job’s status. When the status is “Completed”, AIR recommends that you review the activity log.

10.  View the results.
