Using Map Layers in Geospatial Analysis Results

This topic applies to Touchstone 5.0 and earlier. Click here for information about using map layers in Geospatial Analysis results in Touchstone 5.1.

When a Geospatial Analysis has completed, you can display AIR-provided or custom layers on the analysis results. You can also create different tables and charts using widgets.

Click here for information about working with maps, including how to zoom in to the map and to zoom out of an area on the map, and to set the map to the full extent of the exposure data.

If you select "Workers' Compensation" as the exposure type, you can only configure a Rings analysis and enable dynamic results. As a result, certain functions—Accumulate Values by zones, custom boundaries, event footprints, and hazard boundaries; Spatial Outputs; and Analysis Options (including Reinsurance)—will not be available.

To display a map layer on the results of a Geospatial Analysis:

1.     To view the analysis results, use either of the following methods.

In the Activity Monitor, highlight the analysis name and then, on the ribbon, click View Analysis Result.

Open your project. In the navigation pane, click Results. Select Geospatial Analyses and then, in the results grid, click the analysis name.

The map displays all the locations in the exposure set and a default widget with an Analysis Summary. The widget displays the risk count sum, the exposure values count, and the total replacement value for all the exposure view data.

2.     Use the tools on the Spatial and Mapping tabs to work with the analysis results just as you used them to view map layers. For example, if on the Mapping tab, you select the custom Songa Windspeed Bands layer used for illustrative purposes in this Help module, Touchstone displays the results with the custom map layer bands.

3.     To create another widget, right-click on the map and then select the type of widget you want to create. For example, to view accumulators of exposure by the Songda Windspeed Bands used in the sample analysis, use the following steps:

a.     Right-click on the map and then select Basic Chart/Table.

b.     In the Data Selector widget, in the Categories area, under Spatial Attributes, select Songda Windspeed Bands_Maxwind_speed Band.

c.     In the Values area, select Total Replacement Value.

d.     Leave Chart as the widget mode.

e.     Clear Defer Update. The new widget displays the total replacement values for the exposures in the windspeed bands in the layer.

You could create another basic chart/table widget to view construction codes for the exposures in the windspeed bands defined by the layer.
