Value Mapping

Value mapping helps you to complete imports successfully by mapping custom, user-defined terms in mapped fields of an import file to valid Touchstone values. For example, you can tell AIR ImportExpress to convert user-defined peril codes, such as "Hurr" (hurricane) and "Terr" (terrorism) to AIR-recognized peril codes, "TC" (tropical cyclone) and "TR" (terrorism) during the import process.

You must configure the field mappings before you configure the value mappings.

To create or edit value mappings:

1.     In the Mapping Set and File Selection area on the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, click Scan Mappings.

The Value Mapping window contains a tab for each of the types of data that you selected. Each tab displays information about unrecognized values, if any, in the import files.

2.     Click the tab, such as Contract, that corresponds to the import file for which you want to edit or create value mappings.

3.     To map an unrecognized value to a valid Touchstone entry, select the source value that contains the mapped source field with a value that you want to map, and then select the Touchstone value in the Mapping list.

For example, if the list includes a mapped Perils field with the unrecognized value "Hurr", then, in the Mapping list, select "Wind" under "Tropical Cyclone". After you click Apply to map the unrecognized value to a Touchstone value, the "<n> Unrecognized values" prompt remains; it serves to remind you that the source CSV file contains unrecognized values. You may then choose to modify the unrecognized values in the source CSV file.

4.     If necessary, add your own mappings.

To do so, click in the green row with the white "Add" icon. Then, select an available field, enter a value, and select the appropriate mapping value. For detailed information about the fields that are available for value mapping, see Fields that Support Value Mapping for Import.

5.     As you edit the settings on each tab, click Apply to save the field mappings you created or edited.

6.     When you finish setting value mappings, click OK to save the mappings and close the Value Mapping window.

After configuring the value mappings, you can specify the destination data source.
