Selecting the Public Protection Class
ISO's Public Protection Class (PPC™) program provides important, up-to-date information about municipal fire protection services throughout the country. Through the program, ISO collects information on municipal fire protection efforts throughout the United States. ISO analyzes the relevant data using a Fire Suppression Rating Schedule, and then assigns a Public Protection Classification from 1 to 10, where Class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area's protection does not meet ISO's minimum criteria.
If you use the ISO Loss Cost Calculator, you can select the PPC, which will be applied to all locations in the analysis that do not have specific PPC information. Custom calculators do not use the PPC.
For more information about selecting the PPC that Touchstone should apply to locations in a non-catastrophe peril analysis that do not have specific PPC information, see the "Specifying Advanced Non-Catastrophe Peril Analysis Settings" Help topic.
For more information about setting the default value that Touchstone should display in the non-catastrophe peril analysis Advanced Settings dialog box and that should apply to locations in a non-catastrophe peril analysis that do not have specific PPC information (if the user running the analysis does not change this setting), see the "Non Catastrophe Settings" Help topic.
