Copying and Moving Contracts and Locations

The Copy/Move function enables you to:

  • Copy or move one or more contracts into a new or existing exposure set. The exposure set can be in the same database or in a different, existing database.

Copy or move one or more locations into new contracts in existing exposure sets.

During the copy/move process, Touchstone copies all of the artifacts associated with an object. For contracts, Touchstone copies layers, sublimits, and locations. For locations, Touchstone copies terms and secondary risk characteristics. You can copy and move objects in the same project or in a new project.

Note:

You cannot create a new database when copying or moving contracts, and you cannot create a new exposure set when copying or moving locations. In addition, you can copy or move locations only to a new contract, not to an existing contract.

Underwriting Contract mode supports the copy/move function. However, if you copy or move a contract to an exposure set that is not part of the default Underwriting Master Portfolio Exposure View set by your system administrator, the contract does not appear in the Contracts grid. The Underwriting Contract mode contains only one exposure view, which an administrator sets in the Global Underwriting Defaults area. Contracts that you move or copy that do not appear in the Contracts grid in Underwriting Contract mode appear in Portfolio Mode.

If Touchstone encounters an error, the application cancels the operation and rolls back the changes. For information about an error, click the red warning triangle.

Note:

When copying and moving locations, the default configuration setting is 10,000 locations. If you need to copy or move more than 10,000 locations, contact AIR Support. They can modify the setting to meet your business requirements. Increasing the number of locations can affect performance.
