Managing Mapping Sets |
For each set of source import files, you specify a mapping set that tells Touchstone how to interpret the exposure data in each column in the files. Each mapping set has a unique name and consists of field mappings, value mappings, and defaults. (You cannot specify default values for step function files.) You use the field mapping set to map fields in your data to valid Touchstone fields, and you use value mapping to save information about how AIR ImportExpress should interpret unrecognized values or codes.
You can save and reuse mapping sets, as long as your data files are in the same format. This saves time when starting an import.
You can perform the following mapping set management tasks:
In the Mapping Set list on the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, select the mapping set to use.
You can only import mapping set files that were created with Touchstone. You cannot use IMF files that were created with AIR's CLASIC/2 product.
On the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, click Import mapping set from file . Then, in the Open dialog box, navigate to the location of an existing mapping set (.IMF), select the desired mapping set file, and click Open. In the Notification - Rename dialog box, enter a name for the imported mapping set and then click Create.
On the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, click Create new mapping set . Then, in the New Mapping Set dialog box, enter a name for the new mapping set and click Create. The new mapping set appears in the Mapping Set field.
Give each mapping set a meaningful name that reflects the type of import. You can then reuse mapping sets for imports of the same type. |
To edit the field mappings, value mappings, and default settings of the new mapping set, click Edit Mappings.
In the Mapping Set list on the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, select the mapping set to delete, and then click Delete mapping set . At the confirmation prompt, click Yes to delete the mapping set.
In the Mapping Set list on the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, select the mapping set to copy, and then click Duplicate mapping set . Enter a name for the new mapping set and then click Create. The duplicate mapping set appears in the Mapping Set list. The original mapping set remains unchanged.
In the Mapping Set list on the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, select the mapping set to rename, and then click Rename mapping set . Enter a name for the new mapping set and then click Create. The renamed mapping set appears in the Mapping Set list.
In the Mapping Set list on the Import & Mapping Data tab of AIR ImportExpress, select the mapping set to export, and then click Export mapping set to .IMF file . Browse to the location in which you want to save the mapping set and then click Save. The exported file is saved as an IMF file. Users can now import the mapping set into other instances of Touchstone.
