Import & Mapping Data tab

Use the ImportExpress Import & Mapping Data tab to specify mapping set and file selection, destination database and exposure set, and creation of exposure views in projects.

Import & Mapping Data (.csv files)

Field Description
Mapping Set and File Selection
Policy Type [Required] Select the policy type that you want to import:
  • Facultative Property
  • Facultative Workers' Compensation
  • Primary Property
  • Primary Workers' Compensation
Mapping Set [Required] Select or create the mapping set that you want Touchstone to use to interpret the exposure data in each column in your import files. Refer to "Managing Mapping Sets" for information about creating, importing, duplicating, renaming, exporting, and deleting mapping sets.
Contracts [Required] Select the contracts file that you want to import. Click and then navigate to the contracts file you want to import.
Locations [Required] The locations file that you want to import. Click and then navigate to the locations file you want to import.
Reinsurance Select the reinsurance file that you want to import. Click and then navigate to the reinsurance file you want to import.
Step Function Select the step function file that you want to import. Click and then navigate to the step function file you want to import.
Refresh source data Use this button to refresh the source data on the Import & Mapping Data tab.
Files have headers Select this check box if your import files contain (headers [column labels]) in the first row of each column and you do not want Touchstone to import the header values. Clear this check box if you want Touchstone to import the data in the first row of each file and to use generic column headers (F1, F2, etc.).
Edit Mappings Use this function to map fields in your source data files that ImportExpress did not recognize during the automapping process. You can also set defaults for contracts, locations, and reinsurance files. Refer to "Editing Field Mappings" for detailed information.
Scan Mappings Use this option to verify that Touchstone has mapped all codes and values in your import files to acceptable Touchstone values. Refer to "Value Mapping" for detailed information.
Destination Data Source and Exposure Set
SQL Server This field identifies the SQL server into which Touchstone will import your data.
Database [Required] Select or create the target database in which you want Touchstone to save your imported data. Enter a unique name for a new target database.
Exposure Set Name [Required] Select or create the target exposure set in which you want to save your imported data. Enter a unique name for a new exposure set.
Create an Exposure View (in a New or Existing Project) To create an exposure view in a new or existing project during the import process, select this check box. You then specify the projects and exposure views in subsequent fields.
Projects Select an existing project or create the project in which you want to create a new exposure view or in which you want to add the new view to an existing view. Enter a unique name for a new project.
Project Currency If you created a new project, specify the currency and exchange rate to use in the project.Touchstone uses the project currency to display monetary values in the exposure summary dashboard and run analyses. You can change the project currency at any time. The project currency overrides the global currency rate settings in the Administration Console.
Exposure Views Select an existing exposure view or create a new exposure view. Enter a unique name for a new exposure view.
Auto-generate exposure summary Select this check box to auto-generate an exposure view summary during the import process. If you do not want to auto-generate an exposure view summary, clear this check box. When you create an exposure view summary during the import process, Touchstone uses the currency that you have specified in the Currency field on the Options tab.
