Options common to all.csv import files

Field Description
Import Scheduling Select the scheduling options that tell Touchstone when to import the data.
  • Import immediately
  • Schedule on: Enter the date and time for the loss analysis import job. (This field is not available for geospatial analyses.)
Priority Select the job schedule priority for this data import: low, normal, high, or top priority.
Number of Cores Enter the minimum and maximum number of cores for Touchstone to use to perform this import. Note the following guidelines:
  • Each setting (minimum and maximum) must be greater than 0.
  • Each setting must be less than or equal to the total number of cores available in your Touchstone system configuration.
  • The minimum number of cores must be less than or equal to the maximum number of cores.
  • The maximum number of cores must be greater than or equal to the minimum number of cores.
  • For more information, see Guidelines to Specifying the Number of Cores.
If Duplicate Contracts Select the action for ImportExpress to perform if policy IDs in the import files match existing policy IDs in the destination data source.
  • Skip and raise error: Select this option if you do not want ImportExpress to import policies with duplicate policy IDs.
  • Append: Select this option if you want ImportExpress to add all location-level policy data from the import files to the existing policy record and to report the activity in the import log. In this case, ImportExpress ignores layer, sublimit, and reinsurance information for the duplicate contract.
  • Replace: Select this option if you want ImportExpress to replace all existing policy data with the information contained in the import files and to report the activity in the import log.
If you select Append or Replace, any analysis results for the existing policy will be out of sync with the exposure data in the policy after the import completes.
If Error Select the action for ImportExpress to perform if there are location records that ImportExpress cannot import.
  • Skip any bad locations: Touchstone does not import location records containing errors. It reports the errors in the import log. If you select Skip any bad locations, use the import log to identify the bad locations and make any necessary changes. Then re-import the corrected file, with the If Duplicate Contracts option set to Append. This adds the corrected locations to the exposure data that was imported during the first import.
  • Skip any bad accounts: Touchstone does not import accounts containing location records with errors. It report the errors in the import log.
If Locations Have Non-Zero Geocode Data Select how ImportExpress should handle user-supplied and premium latitude and longitude values in your import files:
  • Preserve user-supplied and premium latitudes and longitudes
  • Preserve premium geocoding latitudes and longitudes
  • Overwrite user-supplied and premium latitudes and longitudes

By default, ImportExpress geocodes non-geocoded locations. For more information, see Using Geocoding in Touchstone on the Client Portal.

User-supplied Geocode Match Level Mapping Set Select the mapping set for ImportExpress to use.
Geocoder Select the geocoding tool for ImportExpress to use during the import:
  • Touchstone Geocoder (default)
  • Premium Geocoding (Optional Licensing)
Offshore IED Platform Validation Select the option for offshore platforms, a type of exposure data that is different from typical buildings. ImportExpress validates and fills in missing information or corrects values for offshore platforms. ImportExpress validates the exposure data against an Offshore Industry Exposure Database (IED).
Delimiter Select the character delimiter to separate fields in your import files: Comma (default), tab, space, colon, semicolon, or other. If you select Other, you must enter the delimiter character that you want to use in the accompanying text field.
Log Statistic Currency and Rate Select the currency for ImportExpress to use for import log statistics. For example, if your import files contain exposure data in different currencies, ImportExpress uses this setting to convert all relevant import log statistics to the same currency.

This setting does not affect the currencies that are in your imported exposure data.

The Rate field is read-only and indicates the default exchange rate table that the administrator has specified to convert the summary statistics to the common currency that Touchstone uses in the import log statistics.
Order of Records Select whether the records in your import files are already sorted or unsorted.

If the records are already in the proper order, the import process can require less time because ImportExpress can skip the step of sorting the records. Pre-sorting records in import files is especially important if you are importing large files (over one million locations). We recommend that you sort records before importing them.

Warning: If you select Sorted for import files containing unsorted records, errors may occur during the import process.
Sorting requirements include the following:
  • Contract files: Sorted by contract ID and layer ID.
  • Location files: Sorted by contract ID and location name.
  • Reinsurance files: Sorted by primary contract ID, exposure ID, exposure type reinsurance type, reinsurance certificate ID, and reinsurance layer ID.
  • Step function files: Sorted by primary contract ID, step function type, and step inde
Date Format Select the date format used in your import files: Default, MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, YYYYMMDD, or YYYY-MM-DD.
Remember Settings Select this option to preserve the current import options settings for future import jobs. ImportExpress does not save the import options with the mapping set. However, the Remember Settings option enables you to preserve your settings.
