Perform ImportExpress value mapping

ImportExpress value mapping associates custom, user-defined terms in mapped fields in an import file to valid Touchstone values.

Before You Begin

You must configure field mappings before you configure value mappings.

For example, you can tell ImportExpress to map user-defined peril codes, such as "Hurr" (hurricane) and "Terr" (terrorism) to Touchstone-recognized peril codes, "TC" (tropical cyclone) and "TR" (terrorism) during the import process

Procedure

  1. Open ImportExpress.
  2. In the Mapping Set and File Selection area, select the policy type, mapping set, and exposure data to import.
  3. Click Scan Mappings.
The Value Mapping window opens. It includes a tab for each type of data that you selected. A status icon on each tab indicates whether the tab is filled out or requires further action .
Note: Each of the selected import files has its own tab; those tabs contain sub-tabs for field mapping and defaults.
  4. Click the tab that corresponds each import file for which you want to edit or create value mappings.
  5. To map an unrecognized value to a valid Touchstone entry in a .csv file, select the source value that you want to map and then select the Touchstone value in the Mapping list.
For example, the list includes a mapped Perils field with an unrecognized source value, Hurr. Select Wind under Tropical Cyclone. Click Apply to map the unrecognized source value to a Touchstone value. The <n> Unrecognized values prompt remains; it reminds you that the source file contains unrecognized values. You may choose to modify the unrecognized values in the source file.
  6. As you edit the settings on each tab, click Apply to save the mappings you created or edited.
  7. When you finish setting value mappings, click OK.

Next Steps

After configuring the value mappings, specify the destination data source.
