Create a Custom Terrorism Event Set and Add Events Manually

You can create a custom terrorism event set that contains custom terrorism events for the United States and other countries that are included in your license.

Procedure

To create a custom terrorism event set and add events manually:

  1. In the Administration Console, select Event Set Management.
  2. On the grid toolbar, click Add.
  3. In the Event Set Name field, enter a name for the new event set.
  4. In the Event Set Description field, enter a description for the new event set.
  5. In the Event Name field, enter a name for an event that you want to add to the new event set.
  6. In the Country field, select the country for the event that you want to add.

The Country list only includes countries specified in your license. When you select a country, the map zooms in to it. For more information on map functionality, see Using Map Controls with a Deterministic Terrorism Event Set.

  7. If you select "United States" as the country and you want to add an event using an AIR landmark, select the AIR Landmarks check box.

The map disappears because it is not available for the landmarks.

If you then want to add an event using a United States or international geographic location, clear the AIR Landmarks check box.

  8. If you select the AIR Landmarks check box, specify the state, target type, and target.

To add an event using a geographic location, specify the latitude and longitude, street, area (state), CRESTA, subarea (county), city, and/or postal code.

State is a required field for a location in the United States.

  9. In the Weapon area, select the type of weapon for this event.

For United States events, you can select a conventional or chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear (CBRN) weapon type. For non-United States events, you can select only a conventional weapon type.

  10. Select and/or specify the details for the weapon type that you select.
  11. Click Add.

The new event appears in the event grid at the bottom of the window.

  12. Repeat steps 5 through 11 for each additional event that you want to add to this event set.
  13. To delete an event, select the event in the event grid and click Delete.
  14. When you have finished adding events to this event set, click Save.

Results

The event set appears in the Event Set Management pane. When you configure a Detailed Loss Analysis, the new event set appears in the Event Set list in the Analysis Settings Pane (Loss).
