Create a Custom Terrorism Event Set and Import Events from a CSV File

You can create a custom terrorism event set and import a series of custom terrorism events from a comma-separated values (CSV) file.

Note:

You can import up to 500 non-geocoded terrorism events (events with no latitude/longitude information) or 21,000 geocoded terrorism events. When creating the CSV file that you want to import, you must include the event name and weapon type. In addition, for each Large Plane Crash or Small Plane Crash event that you want to import, you must also include height (i.e., number of stories) data.

Procedure

To create a custom terrorism event set and import custom terrorism events from a CSV file:

  1. In the Administration_Console, select Event Set Management.
  2. On the grid toolbar, click . The Event Set: Deterministic Terrorism Details window opens.
  3. In the Event Set Name field, enter a name for the new event set.
  4. In the Event Set Description field, enter a description for the new event set.
  5. Click Import CSV.

    The Import CSV File dialog box opens.

    1. If the CSV file that you want to import contains column headers, make sure that the Files have headers check box is selected.
    2. Click , navigate to and select the CSV file that you want to import, and then click Open.
    3. Click Edit Mapping.
    4. Select the appropriate Touchstone event-related field from the list above the column heading for each import column containing data that you want to import.

      Example: If your data includes an EventName column, select "Event Name" from the list above the EventName import column heading.

      The Required Fields area lists the fields that must be included in your import file and mapped to Touchstone fields for a successful import. In addition, an asterisk (*) next to a Touchstone field in the lists of available fields identifies a required field. If you already mapped a required field, a appears to the left of the field name in the Required Fields area.

    5. When you have finished mapping the import columns, click OK.
  6. In the Import CSV File dialog box, click Import.

    The new events appear in the grid at the bottom of the Event Set: Deterministic Terrorism Details window.

  7. When you have finished adding events to this event set, click Save.

    The event set appears in the event set grid. When you configure a Detailed Loss Analysis, the new event set appears in the Event Set list in the Analysis Settings pane.
