Create Zone Sets
Procedure
To create zone sets manually:
-
In the left most panel toolbar, click to create a zone set.
The default name is "New Zone Set".
-
In the Name field, type a unique name for the zone set.
Zone set names must be unique within and across all business units. Special characters are not valid in the names.
You can edit the zone set name at any time by entering a new name and then clicking Save.
-
In the Description field, type a brief description of the zone set.
You can edit the description at any time by entering a new description and then clicking Save.
-
To add zones to a zone set:
-
In the Global Regions list, select the region for the new zone.
Select "North America" as the region, or select "Offshore" to select Offshore geographical areas.
This topic provides information about how regions and countries are mapped.
Tip:Use the World global region to filter based on geographical areas. This is useful when you are not sure what region a country belongs to. Assume that you want to create a zone for Israel, but you are not sure what region includes it. In the Global Regions list, select "World". Then, in the Country column, in the Filter box, type "isr". The Country list displays "Israel". After selecting "Israel", you can use the filter feature in subsequent selector columns. For example, in the Filter box for the District\CRESTA column, type "k". The list displays four geographic areas that include "k" in the name. Select "Kinneret" and then type "15". The list displays 5-digit postal codes with "15" in the number.
-
In the Country column, highlight a country for which you want to view the
available geographic areas.
If you select "Bahamas," "District" is the available resolution while "CRESTA" is the available resolution for Anguilla and "State" for United States".
Highlighting a country name displays the available geographic areas in the next column, but does not add the country to the Zones panel. The geographic areas in the next column vary according to the highlighted country.
Note:While you can create zones for non-modeled countries, and the zones will appear in the Zones panel, you cannot use them in a Detailed Loss Analysis (they will not appear in the Zone list in the Output Options pane).
-
To add countries to the zone, select the check box next to each country that
you want to include.
The Zone Set Manager creates a single zone for each selected country, and each zone appears in the Zones panel. When a user selects a country-level zone, such as Bermuda, when configuring a Detailed Loss Analysis, the loss results will include all geographic areas in the Bermuda zone.
If a geographic area includes mixed resolutions, such as "CRESTA" and "Province", a filter enables you to select the desired area. For North America, select Canada. Notice that there are two Alberta areas, one for CRESTA and one for Province. Click (Filter By Geographic Resolution) next to the Filter box. The list displays the areas with mixed resolution (CRESTA and Province in this example). Clear the geographic area that you do not want to add to the zone, such as "CRESTA". The selector column lists only Canada provinces.
Touchstone Re has an Advanced Loss Modification feature for use with some non-modeled countries: Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa. For those countries, "(TS Re)" appears to the right of the CRESTA or Province item in the CRESTA/Province column. Touchstone and Touchstone Re include Kazakhstan, a non-modeled country. When you select Kazakhstan, the list in the Non-Modeled CRESTA column includes "(TS Re)" to the right of the CRESTA item. Some of these countries have different CRESTA information in Touchstone Re than in Touchstone.
-
Optionally, in the second column, select geographic areas to include in the
zone.
For Antigua and Barbuda, select a CRESTA area. For Haiti, select one or more provinces. For the United States, select one or more states.
Touchstone names geographic areas after selections made in the selector columns, starting with the country. When you add a zip code area in Suffolk county in Massachusetts, the area name might be "US-Massachusetts-Suffolk-02118". Adding the Eleuthra district in the Bahamas creates a zone named BS-Eleuthra. You cannot rename these geographic areas.
When a user selects areas in the second column, the Zones panel lists the selected geographic areas, but no longer lists the country. Select Cayman Islands. The Zones pane adds Cayman Islands to the zone. Then select the Bodden Town and West Bay districts. The Zones pane no longer lists Cayman Islands as a separate zone, but includes KY-Bodden Town and KY-West Bay as individual zones. If a user selects this zone for inclusion in a loss analysis, the loss results will be more granular, including only the selected geographic areas.
-
Optionally, in the third column, select additional geographic areas to
include in the zone.
For Bermuda, select a parish such as Hamilton, and then select one or more 2-character postal codes, such as BY and CR. The zone names will be BM-Hamilton-BY and BM-Hamilton-CR.
-
Optionally, in the fourth column, select additional geographic areas to
include in the zone.
For United States, select a state such as Alabama, select Baldwin county, and then select the 36507 zip code. The zone name will be US-Alabama-Baldwin-36507.
-
Optionally, in the Zones panel, add additional zones by clicking (next to New Zone) and then repeating the
preceding steps.
Each zone appears in a collapsible section. You can expand one zone at a time, and the section will display up to 10 areas at one time (if there are more than 10 areas, you can scroll through the list.) If a zone contains multiple areas, the selector columns display the areas associated with the first area in the list (which is sorted alphabetically). If a zone contains Albania and AT-AUT10, the selector columns are populated with the Albania settings.
-
In the Global Regions list, select the region for the new zone.
-
Click (Save).
The new zone set appears in the leftmost panel.
- Optionally, create additional zone sets.
