Adding an Exposure View to a Project

Adding exposure views to projects.

After you create a project, you can add one or more exposure views; the views identify the data that you want to focus on. Adding an exposure view involves selecting one or more exposure sets, optionally creating a filter, specifying currency and rate information, and naming the exposure view.

Filters enable users to refine the selection of exposure sets that are to be included in an exposure view. Filters are based on exposure data, including geography, location, and contract attributes.

Exposure sets are collections of contracts and locations that have been imported into Touchstone. Users define the exposure set names and specify on import the target exposure database for the exposure sets.

Procedure

To add an exposure view:

  1. Open the project in which you want to create a new exposure view.
  2. On the All Exposure Views tab, click (New) and then select Create New Exposure View.

The Create New Exposure View pane displays the exposure sets in the available databases on the current server.

  3. [Optional] Filter the list using the row below the header row. The filter icon is in the first cell of that row.

For example, filter the list to include only exposure sets with "Commercial Wind" in the name.

  4. Select the check box next to each exposure set that you want to include in the new exposure view.

You can select exposure sets from different databases.

  5. [Optional] Create a complex filter in the Filters area.

For example, filter the exposure sets by country and peril.

    You can export filters.

  6. At the bottom of the grid, select the currency and exchange rate table to use with the exposure view.

The currency that you select does not change the currency of the underlying exposure data. Touchstone includes the currency information in the Exposure Summary log file.

See the Guide to Currency Topics for more information about how Touchstone displays currency in different parts of the user interface.

  7. Create the exposure view or views.
    • Create one exposure view and then leave the default view name or enter a new name.

    • Create a separate view for each exposure set and then, optionally, enter a prefix for all the exposure views.

Touchstone uses the name of each exposure set and the prefix as the name of an exposure view.

  8. [Recommended] Leave the default setting for the Auto-generate exposure summary option.

When you select this option, the exposure view includes an exposure map and tables along with the contract and location lists and location details. If you clear this check box, the exposure view includes only the contract and location lists and location details, and the list of exposure views does not include contract and location count information.

  9. Click Create.

Touchstone initiates the creation of the exposure view. Links appear in the lower right corner of the pane, based on the options that you selected. There is also a link to the Activity Monitor so that you can check the status of the job.

  10. When the job is complete, in the navigation pane, under Project Data, select All Exposure Views.

The grid includes the new exposure view or views.
